Earlier today, Xiaomi introduced its latest bezel-less phablet, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. This phone is replacing the Mi Mix that was announced back in 2016 and was known for its gigantic size and very thin bezels.
The Mi Mix 2 comes with a 5.99-inch display that is slightly smaller than the 6.4 inch one on the Mi Mix. The display on the Mi Mix 2 has a FullHD+ resolution of 2160x1080pixels with an 18:9 aspect ratio. With this aspect ratio, the display is not very big as its overall footprint is smaller and so is its screen-to-body ratio. Both edges of the front display are curved and Xiaomi says that it has reduced the bottom bezel by 12% to ensure you have more screen real estate to play around with.
Powering the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is the best of the best. The processor used here is the Snapdragon 835 that is paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The 6GB model is available in three storage options of 64GB, 128GB or 256GB. The 8GB model on the other hand is said to be the Special Edition model and comes with a ceramic body and 128GB of internal storage space.
At the back of the Xiaomi Mi Mix is a 12MP camera from Sony that features 4-axis OIS. The front facing snapper is a 5MP one. The cameras don’t look that exciting on paper but I hope their performance is not disappointing.
The Mi Mix 2 comes with MIUI 9 based on Android 7 Nougat.
The Mi Mix 2 has a 3,400 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. This is a smaller battery when compared to the Mi Mix which had a 4,400 mAh unit. Even though this is a smaller battery, 3,400 mAh is not so bad, most other flagship devices have much smaller units.
As for the price, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will start at €420 (Ksh 52,000) for the 6GB+64GB model, €460 (Ksh 57,000) for the 6GB+128GB, €510 (Ksh 63,000) for the 6GB+256GB and €700 (86,000) for the 8GB+128GB model.
