System updates are very important no matter what Smartphone you have. If you own a smartphone from a well-known brand, you most probably are used to getting new updates every so often. These updates bring new features and security patches that we all need to stay safe online.
The unfortunate thing about system updates is that they tend to be so big and therefore you need a reliable internet connection to download them. This means that you will need time and a reliable connection if you are to successfully download a system update. With that said, you have to prepare to download an update every time you want to update your system if you want to successfully download it.
With Android O, things will change significantly. This has been discovered by some users who have downloaded the developer preview of Android O who say that they have seen the option to pause system update downloads. Previously, users could only pause the download of apps and files but never of system software. With the release of Android O, it looks like Google plans to let users pause system updates if they wish to do so.
Elliott Hughes, a Google engineer, even wrote is a post that the feature was coming to the Play Services and is currently being tested. He did not say which version of Play Services it is tied to but it will most likely be available later in the year. He also revealed that the pause option will be available to all size of system updates, not just the large ones.
