Facebook Lite is the company’s app that is designed for those who live in areas with slow or unreliable internet connections. The app was launched back in 2015 to select markets in Africa and Asia before expanding to users in other regions. A little over a year later, the company released Messenger Lite for those who want to have a good chatting experience even though their internet connection is not stable.
Ever since its launch, Facebook Lite seems to have grown so much. When it was launched, not many people expected much from it and to be honest, I thought it was just another app that would be axed since I did not expect that many people to be using it.
Well, I was wrong, Mark Zuckerberg has just announced that the app currently has 200 million active users. This is quite a huge number for Facebook given that not many developers can achieve such numbers with their apps.

200 million is double the number of active users the app had last year. This growth is good for Facebook Lite but might not be so good for Facebook’s main app, it might show that people are more interested in the light version of the app at the expense of the social networking site’s main app. Even with that said, in the end Facebook is the winner as it gets people to use its apps.
