Even though Android Nougat is out, there are still devices out there that are running on older iterations. One such device is the OnePlus X that has been running Android Lollipop ever since it was launched back in 2015. OnePlus normally customizes Android into OxygenOS and this means that people using its devices do not feel entirely left out when new Android iterations roll out as they have a different experience from the get go.

When the OnPlus X was launched, the phone came with Android Lollipop and the company said that it is upgradeable to Marshmallow. Well, Marshmallow was released late last year but the company is yet to update the OnePlus X and we were not sure it had any plans to do so, I was expecting the company to skip this iteration and go directly to Android Nougat.

After months and months of waiting, the company has come out and reveal that it will be updating the OnePlus X with Android Marshmallow afterall. The company says that this update will roll out as early as next week.

The OnePlus X was an unexpected device launched last year and comes with some impressive specs including a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 5 inch display with a 1080p resolution. This combined with its affordable price tag makes it an appealing smartphone to most Android enthusiasts.

Besides the OnePlus X, the most recent flagship from the company, the OnePlus 3, will also be getting an update very soon. Since the device is running on Marshmallow, it will be updated to Android Nougat. The company is yet to confirm the exact date when OnePlus 3 users should expect Android Nougat but said that it will happen soon. Soon can be next month or even next year, we just don’t know at the moment.
