Last week, Infinix officially launched the Note 3 smartphones in the country. This is the third phablet from the company to be launched in the country. The last phablet from the company was the Infinix Note 2 that we saw towards the end of 2015 and that has been replaced with this new one, the Note 3.
Since we have the Noe 3 to review, I have decided to explore what it is all about before the full review just to give you an idea of what it is about. iI you are still not sure if you want to get the Note 3 or the Note 2, check out our specs comparison post that can give you an idea as to which one is perfect for you.

Infinix Note 3: What Is in the box
When you open the box for the first time, you are greeted with the 6-inch device that conspicuously sits at the top. The Infinix Note 2 was a 6-inch device so this size makes sense for those who have used that device, if you haven’t you have to get used to it before considering it normal.
Below is a list of everything included in the box
The Phone (Infinix Note 3)
Earphones
USB cable and Power adapter
Screen Protector
User Manual
SIM removal tool
It is good to see Infinix include the earphones as they were not there in the Note 2. The company has also included a screen protector which is a good thing. You will also get the SIM removal tool since the back cover of the Note 3 is non removable and you will need the removal tool to access the SIM tray.
First Impressions
The Infinix Note 3 borrows a lot from the Note 2 which we reviewed last year. They have the same size and design but the Note 3 feels a bit lighter than the Note 2. Still on the design, the up and down volume keys on the Note 3 are split and now appear as two separate buttons, I think this is necessary given the phone’s huge size, you need to know which button you are pressing even when not looking at the phone.
At the back sits the 13MP main camera with dual LED flash and the fingerprint scanner. This is the first smartphone from Infinix in Kenya to come with the fingerprint scanner and am impressed with how fast and responsive it is.
At the front is the 6 inch Full HD display. Am in love with this display as it doesn’t feel cheap and does not collect fingerprints easily, in this price range (Ksh 15,000), you always get smartphones with not so good displays but the Note 3 isn’t one of them. you also get a 5MP camera with soft flash at the front for all your selfies. The onscreen capacitive buttons sit as the bottom, these buttons take up some screen space but given that the display is 6 inches, am not going to complain.
The SIM card tray is on the left section with the microSD card slot on the right section above the volume keys. At the bottom is the Micro USB port, speaker grille and microphone with the headphone jack at the top.
Review coming up!!
I have had the Infinix Note 3 for a few days and I will be using it as my main phone for the next week or so before coming up with the full review. In the review, I will also be looking at XOS and how it is different from XUI wo watch out for that.
