Samsung seems to be one of the few manufacturers that is actively trying to update as many of its devices with Android Marshmallow as possible. The company has updated a good number of its 2015 devices and some of them such as the Galaxy J5 are not high end ones. This is good move for Samsung considering that there are some manufacturers out there who keep releasing new devices but have not updated their existing ones.
The company is keen to update even more devices including the Galaxy A8. This update has just started rolling out to some users of this device in India and we expect those in other markets such as Kenya to get it in a few days or weeks.
According to those who have got the notification, the update is a little over 1GB in size so you should make sure you have a good internet connection to successfully get it. With this update, you get Android 6.0.1 with all its features.
This is an Over the Air (OTA) update so you will have to be patient if you have not received a notification informing you of its availability just yet. Samsung has not given out a timeline as to when other users should expect the update so all you can do is wait. If you can’t wait, you can head over to the settings page on your phone and choose the Update option.
