Vivo is one interesting smartphone company that has been turning heads this year. The company is not well known in most markets but the few people who know about it know how well spec’d its devices are. A few months ago, the company unveiled the Vivo Xplay 5 which at the time was the world’s first smartphone with 6GB of RAM.

Vivo is expanding its lineup further with the launch of the X7 and X7 Plus smartphones. These two smartphones are very similar with a few differences. Unlike the Vivo Xplay 5, they do not have 6GB of RAM which is not a bad thing considering that not many people need all the 6 gigs on their devices.
Starting with the Vivo X7, it has a manageable 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by the 1.8GHz Snapdragon 652 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage space.
At the back, the Vivo X7 has a 13MP camera while at the front it has a 16MP one. This is a weird combination as we are used to having a higher megapixel count at the back camera and a smaller one in front. Both the front and rear cameras come with LED flash and phase detection autofocus. Providing all the power is a 3000 mAh battery.
Vivo X7 Plus
The Vivo X7 Plus on the other hand comes with a much bigger 5.7 inch display. This is a Super AMOLED display with a Full HD resolution. it is powered by the same Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space.
For the camera, the Vivo X7 Plus has 16MP units on both the front and back. Both cameras come with LED flash and phase detection autofocus. The X7 Plus comes with a 4000 mAh battery.
Both the Vivo X7 and X7 plus are dual SIM smartphones that support 4G LTE (cat. 7 LTE to be exact). The one disappointing thing about these two phones is that they come with Android 5.1 with the company’s Funtouch OS on top. We are already talking about Android Nougat so it is disappointing to see some companies launching devices with Android L.
Price and Availability
The Vivo X7 will be available on the market as from July 7 for $375 (approximately Ksh 38,000). The X7 Plus on the other hand will be available as from July 15. The company has still not revealed how much it will cost.
