Google released Android N developer preview last month ahead of its annual I/O event to give developers a chance to play around with the next Android Iteration before it is available to the public later in the year.

From the first developer preview, we know that Android N will be bringing some much needed features and functionalities to Android. One of those is the split-screen multitasking mode. This feature has been implemented by some manufacturers already and Google wants to take that with the next level. Another main thing Android N brings is to allow users to sign up for the Android Beta program and get OTA Android N developer preview updates.

Google is using its latest feature that allows developers to receive OTA updates to roll out this latest update to developers. The update fixes some bugs that are associated with hidden WiFi networks, direct reply interactions and multi-window support among others.

Besides the bug fixes, this latest update also brings some API changes and one of them has to do with the high-performance Vulkan graphics API. Google says in a statement, “Vulkan is a new 3D rendering API which we’ve helped to develop as a member of Khronos, geared at providing explicit, low-overhead GPU (Graphics Processor Unit) control to developers and offers a significant boost in performance for draw-call heavy applications.” Some other changes with the API allow developers to take advantage of some of Android N’s core features such as split-screen and notifications.

These are just some of the changes this update brings, find more changes here.

This update is available Over the Air (OTA) for those who have registered for the Android Beta program.
