A less spec’d version of the Huawei P9, the Huawei P9 Lite, to be launched soon

Huawei in Kenya

Huawei Officially unveiled the P9 and P9 Plus smartphones as its flagship devices for 2016. These were the only two smartphones the company introduced to us unlike last year where there was a smaller version of the flagship, the Huawei P8 Lite. The rumors that were there before the company officially announced the P9 and P9 Plus had indicated that there was to be a smaller and affordable version of the P9 to be called the Huawei P9 Lite.

This never happened but it looks like it will be happening very soon. We are getting information that Huawei is planning to unveil the P9 Lite which will come with lesser specs and a lower price compared to the flagship P9.

According to Hi-Tech, the Huawei P9 Lite will have the same 5.2 inch display as on the flagship P9 which will have a Full HD (1080p) resolution. We still don’t know what processor it will come with and all we know is that it will be available in two variants, one with 2GB of RAM and the other one with 3GB RAM. As for storage, it will have 16GB which can be expanded using a microSD card.

At the back it will have a 13MP camera at the back and not the 12MP dual camera setup found on the two flagships, the P9 and P9 Plus. This is paired with an 8MP one in front for all your selfies and video calls.

Huawei will be including a fingerprint scanner on the P9 Lite which is a good feature to have on a mid-range smartphone. The company will also be including a 3,000 mAh battery similar to the one found on the flagship P9.

Pricing and Availability

We are still not sure about the price and availability of the Huawei P9 Lite but it will probably be soon after the flagship P9. Since we will be getting the P9 in Kenya next month, we might get the P9 Lite then.

Keep it here to be updated in case of any changes.
