Windows 10 Mobile OTA Update Will Start Rolling Out to Some Existing WP 8.1 Devices Next Week

gold feat

Last week, we told you that Microsoft has plans to update some of the existing Lumia smartphones (running Windows Phone 8.1) to the latest version, Windows 10 Mobile. We even gave you a list of some of these devices that were to get this update.

The good thing about Windows 10 Mobile is that it will be rolling to a good number of devices from the high end ones to the low end Lumia smartphones. This update has taken a very long to be available to the existing Windows Phone devices and it is a good thing to see it out in the end.

According to Vodafone Italia, Windows 10 Mobile will start rolling out to some existing Lumia smartphones as from March 7. This date is for the Lumia smartphones under Vodafone Italia but at least it indicates that the update is about to roll out to other users around the globe. At this point I can say that you should be expecting this update by the second half of the year no matter where you are in the world.

The first Lumia smartphones that will get updated to Windows 10 Mobile include the Microsoft Lumia 535, Nokia Lumia 635, Nokia Lumia 735, Nokia Lumia 830, Nokia Lumia 930 and Nokia Lumia 1520. As you can see, this lists includes devices from all market segments and am particularly happy to see the Lumia 535 on the list.

Since the above listed devices will be getting the Windows 10 Mobile OTA update between March 7 and March 13, am expecting the remaining ones to be updated anytime from then. Microsoft has not said anything about this so far and so we will have to wait and hope that the update will roll out really soon.
