Samsung Is Still the Top Smartphone Manufacturer with 20% Market Share

Samsung is undoubtedly the king of the smartphone market. We have known that for a while now and the latest data from Gartner confirms this. The research firm has just released its data for 2015 showing that Samsung had a market share of 20.7% for the last quarter of the year. This is a slight growth from 19.9% that the company recorded during Q4 of 2014.

Following Samsung closely is Apple with a market share of 17.7%. this is a drop of close to 3% from the figures the company record during Q4 of 2014. It is not clear how or why this happened given that 2015 was one of the best years for Apple. It might just mean that Apple had a food year but Samsung had a better one.

Smartphone market share

Number 3 on the list is Huawei with a market share of 8% with Lenovo following it with a market share of 5% and Xiaomi closing the top 5 list with a market share 4.5%. Out of all the top 5 manufacturers, Huawei saw the best year in 2015 as its sales jumped by over 53% from Q4 of 2014. This can be attributed to the Huawei P8 which was one of the best smartphones of the year.

For the whole year, Samsung controlled over 22.5% of the market from 24.7% in 2014. Apple came in second at 15.9% and this will Probably settle the argument between which one is the greatest between Apple and Samsung.
