Huawei has today officially launched the Y6 Pro which is meant to be the global version of the Huawei Enjoy 5 that was launched in China back in October. I have been expecting Huawei to roll out this device to international markets and it’s nice to see that happening.
As for specs, the Huawei Y6 Pro is very appealing to the true Android enthusiasts. The phone comes with a 5 inch HD display which is not too big neither is it too small. It is the perfect size for those who are not into phablets.
Underneath, the Huawei Y6 Pro is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage space. This is a very interesting combination that will separate this phone from other entry and mid-range Android smartphones. It is always interesting to see a big name manufacturer try and push the limits especially in the low end market segment.
At the back it has a 13MP camera with a 5MP unit in front. Still at the back sits a massive 4,000 mAh battery that can easily take you through your whole work day without a need to top it up. A few extra specs of the Huawei Y6 Pro are listed below:
Dual SIM support
Android 5.1 Lollipop with Emotion UI 3.1 Lite on top
Bluetooth 4.0
WI-FI 802.11 b/g/n
Huawei has not revealed its recommended retail price for this phone or when it will be available in international markets such as Kenya. The Huawei Enjoy 5 which it borrows a lot from is retailing for $160 (approximately Ksh 16,500) in China and I hope Huawei tries and maintain this price point when this phone reaches international markets. It would be really interesting to get this phone in Kenya with those specs and retailing at less than Ksh 20,000.
