Sometime last year, we told you that Sony had plans to update a number of its devices to the latest Android iteration (at that time it was Android 5.1 Lollipop). One of those devices that was to get the update was the Xperia M4 Aqua. This did not happen then and will not be happening anytime in the future as Sony plans to update the Xperia M4 Aqua directly to Android Marshmallow.
The company revealed this through Twitter as it answered a user who had concerns that his device still didn’t have the update.

The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua was added to the list of Sony devices that were to get Android Marshmallow back in October. Back then, the company hadn’t confirmed if it was skipping Android Lollipop or if it was going to update to lollipop first before updating it to Marshmallow. It now looks like it will be skipping Lollipop as it tries to get as many of its devices to Marshmallow before the next Android version is released.
Sony has still not revealed when this update will be available for users. This means you have to wait and check for updates regularly if you have the Xperia M4 Aqua.
Keep it here to be informed when Android Marshmallow is available for your device.
