The smartphone market is a tough one to crack and one company that knows this too well is LG. The company did not have a good 2015 but will not let that slow it down going forward.
The company released some figures that show how 2015 was tricky for it in terms of sales and actual shipments. During the fourth quarter of 2015, the company managed to ship 15.3 Million smartphones. This represents a growth of 2% from the previous quarter and a decline of 2% for the same period in 2014.
For the whole year (2015) LG managed to ship over 59.7 million handsets which is just 0.5 Million units above what it recorded the previous year (2014). This slight improvement did not help the company turn a profit.
With this results, LG wants to approach 2016 differently and the first thing it will focus on is to have 2 flagship smartphones this year. The first of these will be unveiled next month an MWC 2016 and will probably be the LG G5. We still don’t know much about the other device but we will probably see it later in the year at IFA 2016.
As for the specs of the LG G5, nothing is confirmed at this point but rumors have suggested that it will have a Full metal design and will be powered a Qualcomm 820 processor with another variant coming with a Snapdragon 808 processor. We will know more about these devices as time goes by.
