The X-Tigi X8 and the Infinix Note 2 are two affordable smartphones with decent specs that were launched in Kenya towards the end of last year (2015). These two are sort of mid-range devices from X-Tigi and Infinix and are the devices you should check out if your budget is Ksh 13,000 or less.
The X-Tigi X8 is available as from Ksh 12,000 while the 3G/1GB RAM version of the Note 2 retailing at Ksh 12,500 and the 4G/2GB RAM version selling at Ksh 13,999.

Below is a look at the key specs of the Infinix Note 2 and the X-Tigi X8.
[table id=20 /]
Design and Display
The Infinix Note 2 has a huge 6 inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Even with the huge size, it is very easy to hold on the hand thanks to its very thin bezels. I personally prefer the design and overall feel of the Note 2 to that of the X8. I doesn’t feel premium as such but looks much better.
The X-Tigi X8 on the hand has a 5-inch display (with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels) which translates to an overall small form factor. The small size is very appealing to most people who want a device that is easy to hold with one hand.
RAM and Memory
The Infinix Note 2 comes with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM with 16GB of internal storage space that can be expanded up to 32GB. The 2GB variant of the Note 2 supports 4G LTE connectivity. The X-Tigi X8 on the other hand comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space that can be expanded using a microSD card to 32GB.
CPU and OS
The X-Tigi X8 comes with the 1.7 GHz Octa Core MediaTek MT6592A processor. The Note 2 on the other hand comes with a 1.3GHz (64 bit) Octa Core MediaTek MT6753 processor. Both processors are good in their own way but the MT6753 is much better as it is a 64bit unit and supports ARM big.LITTLE architecture.
For the OS, the X-Tigi X8 comes with Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat while the Note 2 comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop. There is no news if the X8 will be getting any update in the future so the safest bet right now is to go with the Note 2 since it has a more recent OS.
Camera Specifications
The Infinix Note has a 13MP camera at the back with a 2MP one in front. The X-Tigi X8 also has a 13MP at the back with a 5MP one in front. Both rear cameras can shoot Full HD videos and take some decent shots with good lighting.
Battery
The Note 2 comes with a bigger 4040mAh non removable battery and this makes sense because it has a massive 6-inch display. It also supports quick charging so you can get it charged up very fast. The X8 on the other hand comes with a smaller 2200 mAh removable battery. This battery is very small and is quite disappointing if you ask me.
Conclusion
As to which one you should choose, I would recommend the Note 2 unless its huge size is not appealing to you. I would especially recommend the 4G/2GB version if you can afford it. It gets the job done and does so very well.
