Cortana virtual assistant has been available for Android and iOS platforms for a while. During this period, it was available in beta until yesterday when Microsoft decided to move the app to both Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App store.
Unfortunately, Cortana for Android and iOS is only available in china and the US at this point. If you downloaded the beta version (like I did) you can still continue using it and Microsoft has not changed it much so you will get an almost similar experience. At this point, it is not clear when Microsoft will be rolling it to other markets.

Cortana is not just another virtual assistant for these platforms as it has been well integrated to work better with Android and iOS. It has even been built to work with Cyanogen. “They’re going to take the Android base experience [of Cortana] and integrate it,” explains Marcus Ash, Microsoft’s Cortana program manager, in an interview with The Verge.
Unlike the standard version for Android and iOS, the Cyanogen version will support “Hey Cortana”, allowing you to activate it by just saying Hey Cortana.
I will be keen to see if people will ditch Google Now and Siri in favor of Cortana, personally, I will give it a try to see if it suits me.
