Every manufacture, it seems, wants to roll out Android Marshmallow to its devices before the other and OnePlus doesn’t want to be left behind. A OnePlus staff member has shared information through its official forum showing what it has in plans regarding Android Marshmallow update for its devices.
From the information shared on the forum, OnePlus will start rolling out Android Marshmallow to the OnePlus One in Q1 2016. OnePlus One is powered by Cyanogen which is already working on its next major update that will start seeding early next year. For the OnePlus One devices powered by Oxygen ROM, it will get the Marshmallow update at a later date, after the Cyanogen one gets updated.
The OnePlus 2 on the other hand is powered by Oxygen and will also be getting Marshmallow update in Q1 2016 after the OnePlus One. With this update, users will be able to use Google’s API for the fingerprint scanner by default. Currently, this is not possible.
The OnePlus X will also be getting Android Marshmallow but we still don’t know the exact date for this. My guess is that this will happen in Q2 of 2016 given that by this time all the other OnePlus devices will have been updated to Marshmallow.
