As other smartphone manufacturers are in the final stages of testing Android 6.0 Marshmallow for their devices, Lenovo seems to be the only one not ready to push out this update. The company has not said anything so far but has just updated its support page that talks about the latest updates and interesting enough, it does not mention when this update is coming to any of its devices.
GSMArena is even reporting that some of Lenovo’s popular devices, the K3 Note and A7000/A7000 Plus, will not be getting Android Marshmallow anytime soon. The publication reports that the earliest these devices will get this update is September 2016.
September 2016 is very far to be honest and that is when Google may be planning to release its next iteration, Android N. By that time, we will be more interested on Android N and Android Marshmallow will be old news, this is a bad move from Lenovo if you ask me.
Just to be fair, Lenovo has plans to update some of its more premium devices to Android Marshmallow sooner. Even so, I think Lenovo should have focused on its more popular devices if it wants to make its customers happy. Even the recently unveiled Lenovo Vibe P1 will get this update in June 2016.
