Here’s How To Escape Traffic In Nairobi

2012 12 06 Nairobitrafficjam

Traffic has been a nuisance to the residents of Nairobi County for a long, long time. Innovations such as Ma3Route have made it a bit easier for users to know the conditions of the road, and act accordingly but nothing beats having access to real-time traffic data.
Access Kenya has, for some time now, been offering free access to use their road-side mounted traffic cameras to get to know the conditions of the roads. This is possible through their dedicated website which offers access to various cameras mounted at various strategic points accross the city, such as Waiyaki way, Wilson, Nyayo Roundabout, Ngong road among others. The service is also available for Mombasa residents.

The images are automatically refreshed every 6 seconds, so don’t expect to find a livestream video feed. The quality of the images is not all that good, but it serves it’s purpose. Problem comes in during the night, when you can hardly see the roads, but despite these shortfalls, kudos to Access Kenya.
All you need to do is go to Traffic Update which is also accessible through mobile phones and get to see the conditions of the road for yourself.
