Over 5.7% of Windows Phones Currently On the Market Are Running On Windows 10 Mobile

Windows 10 Mobile is still not available on the market and even the first Lumia smartphones to come with this OS preinstalled (the Lumia 950, Lumia 950XL and Lumia 550)  are still not available on the market. Even though this is the case, there are people out there who are using Windows 10 Mobile on their devices.

According to AdDuplex, Windows 10 Mobile is installed in 5.7% of all Windows Phones currently on the market. This is a slight jump from last month when only 4.7% of users had Windows 10 Mobile installed. This is impressive growth considering that no Windows 10 devices are available in retail stores at the moment.

The report by AdDuplex also showed that there are still people using Windows Phone 7 up to this time. To be exact, 5.6% off all Windows Phone users are using Windows Phone 7. Windows Phone 7 is a pretty old OS and to know that some people are using it is strange. You cannot update directly to Windows Phone 8 from Windows Phone 7 so these users will have to buy new phones altogether if they want to continue enjoying the Windows experience.

The most popular device according to the report is the Lumia 520 which is used by 16.1% of all Windows Phone users. This does not surprise me as the Lumia 520 has been bestselling Lumia smartphone and in some countries such as Kenya, it was at some point in the top three list of the bestselling smartphones. Following the Lumia 520 is the Lumia 630 with 9.5% market share and Lumia 535 with 9.4% market share.

For those waiting for Windows 10 Mobile update, my guess is that it will start rolling out later next month when the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL are available in retail stores.
