Have you heard about the BlackBerry Priv? Yes, BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone. If you have not heard about it before, you may have missed a few things as BlackBerry officially confirmed that its first Android smartphone will be coming very soon.

BlackBerry has been hyping this smartphone so much and we expect its sales to be positive. The company is currently accepting pre registrations for those interested in this smartphone. Keep in mind this does not mean pre-orders as money will not be exchanging hands between the consumers and BlackBerry. The company just want to know how many people are interested in this smartphone.

This is quite an interesting move for BlackBerry and probably the folks at the company want to know how many units they should be introducing during the first phase as they bring the phone into the market. At the moment, we know very little and all we can do is guess.

Registration is on BlackBerry’s website and those who do so will receive an email with the latest news about this phone and where they can pre-order it when it is officially available.

The pre-registration page on BlackBerry’s website has also revealed some features the phone will have including its 5.4 inch dual curved edge display, the Schneider-Kreuznach rear camera, the early warning DTEK system for extra security and a 3410mAh battery.

The BlackBerry Priv will be unveiled officially next month and will be retailing at around $600 (approximately Ksh 62,000).
