If you have used stock Android such as the one the Infinix Hot 2 comes with, you may have noticed that it does not come with a file manager. This is also the case for the Nexus devices that run on stock Android. Users are forced to head to the Play Store to get a file manager. This is not a big deal for most people but there are those who do not understand what to do and end up being confused.
Google is finally fixing this with Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the company will be including a built-in file manager with the OS. Even though the company is including a file manager, it will not be as easily accessible as you might expect.
The file manager will be hidden inside the settings tab and you can access it by going to Settings > Storage and USB Option > Explore. And there you go, a built-in file manager on Android. This not the best full-featured file manager on Android as there already exist third party apps such as ES File Explorer (which I personally use) that provide users with many more features. The basic functions that this file manager will have include sorting, searching and filtering.
All in all, it’s nice to see Google include a file manager on Android. At least those buying Android One and Nexus devices will not get confused anymore. You will not believe the number of emails and phone calls I have been getting from people trying to access the file manager of the Infinix Hot 2 and not being able to do so. At least now users will have no problems.
Android Marshmallow is already rolling out to the Nexus devices and some Android One devices. I expect it to be available for the Infinix Hot 2 in a month or so.
