If you own an Android One smartphone (read Infinix Hot 2), then I have some good news for you. You are about to get the latest Android update, Android 6.0 Marshmallow anytime from now.
As you already know, Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is already rolling to Nexus devices and the Android one devices are next. Google is able to push OTA updates to the Nexus devices as they run mostly stock Android. As for the Android One devices, including Infinix Hot 2, they also run stock Android that is why they will be getting their updates ahead of other devices. It is also easier for Google to push updates to these devices because of the hardware standards they observe.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is already rolling out to a few Android One devices in India and the Philippines. Not all devices are getting or will be getting the updates at the same time that is why you may not have it already on your device.
The Android devices that are currently getting the update include Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream UNO, Karbon Sparkle V. These devices are not officially available in Africa at the moment as the only Android One devices we have is the Infinix Hot 2.
We still have no information when Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be rolling out to the Hot2 but be sure we will inform you when that happens. Do not be surprised to see the update in the next week or two.
Other Android Devices
If you own any other Android or a Nexus device, you may wait awhile before you can get the update. It will all depend on your manufacturers. Those in line to get this update earlier are those using premium and some mid-range devices from Samsung, HTC and Sony. These manufacturers have already released a list of the devices they will be pushing the update to. You need to check out their lists to see if your device is included.
