Microsoft will be holding a major event later today at 5PM Kenya time (2PM GMT). This is one of the most awaited events of 2015 as it has been quite a while since we saw a flagship smartphone in the Windows Phone family. We have been hearing about these flagship smartphones from Microsoft among other things the company will officially unveil today.
So below I will list down the three phones you should expect Microsoft to announce later today.
The Microsoft Lumia 950 XL
Rumors and leaks about this smartphone has been around for a while and by now we probably know everything about the phone. This will be the premium flagship that will probably take Microsoft to the top if received well. It will be among the first premium devices to run on Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 mobile platform. Some of the specs the Lumia 950 XL is expected to have include:
5.7-inch display with a QHD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 810
3GB of RAM
32GB of internal storage space that can be expanded using a microSD card
20 MP rear facing camera and a 5MP front facing camera
A 3340 mAh battery (removable)
A few other features include 4G LTE support, USB Type C support and dual-band WiFi Miracast
Microsoft Lumia 950
We are also expecting the Lumia 950 which is a smaller brother to the Lumia 950 XL we have mentioned above. This will also be a flagship smartphone and will have equally impressive specs in a small form factor. Some of its specs include:
A 5.2 inch Quad HD
A six core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor
3GB of RAM
32GB of expandable internal storage space
20 MP main camera and a 5MP front facing camera
3000 mAh removable battery
Other features include 4G LTE, USB Type C connector and dual-band WiFi Miracast
Microsoft Lumia 550
Microsoft is also believed to be working on an entry level smartphone, the Lumia 550. This will be joining the Lumia 500 family so do not expect out of this world specs from it. Some of its specs include
A 4.7 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels
1.1 GHz Quad core Snapdragon 210 processor
1GB of RAM
8GB of expandable storage space
5MP main camera and a 2MP front facing camera
A 1905mAh battery
4G LTE
Other devices
Apart from the Lumia smartphones, we are also expecting Microsoft to announce the new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 that takes over from the Surface Pro 3. We are also expecting a new Surface laptop with a 14 inch display and will showcase the power of Windows 10.
Microsoft will also be unveiling the new Microsoft Band 2 with a curved display to take over from the original Microsoft band that has been around for a while.
