Since Google has already launched the latest Nexus devices, the next thing we need dot focus on is the availability of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. As expected, Android Marshmallow will start rolling out to Nexus devices before the others.
We had expected Android 6.0 Marshmallow to start rolling out after two weeks or so but it looks like that’s not the case. As from next week, Nexus devices will start getting Android 6.0 updates according to Google.
Who’s getting the Updates?
Google revealed that the first Nexus devices to get official updates as from next week include the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9, and Nexus player. Google did not reveal if it will push out all updates at the same time or what criteria it will use if that is not the case.
After the Nexus devices, my guess is that Android One devices will be in line to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This has not been confirmed but it sounds like something that can happen.
Google has also revealed that it is pushing Android 6.0 source to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to give manufacturers a chance to get ready to push the update to their existing devices. As expected, most flagship devices will be getting the update.
