Apple: Over 50% Of All iOS Devices Are Using iOS 9

No matter how you feel about Apple and iOS in general, you have to agree with me that this latest information from the company is exciting. The company is reporting that over half of all iOS devices being used globally are running on its latest OS, iOS 9.

Just a few days ago, we reported that iOS 9 was installed in over 18% of all iOS devices and the jump from this to 50% is just impressive.

These new figures do not include the new iPhones, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus which are not yet available on the market. This is why I say the numbers are impressive considering that iOS has just been out for about 5 days or so.

iOS 9 is supported by a number of devices including the iPhone 4s and iPad 2 and above, if your device is not supported, then that’s probably your cue to upgrade.

The Fastest Adoption for Apple

At 50% is just five days, Apple says that this is its fastest iOS adoption in history. With iOS pushing out new updates is very easy for Apple compared to Android where there are many different manufacturers who may have their own different timetables and devices they wish to support with the latest updates.

Just to compare it to Android, Lollipop, which is the latest version, has a 21% adoption rate compared to KitKat which has over 35% adoption. KitKat has been around for a little over 2 years making it way older than Lollipop.
