Last week, LG teased a new smartphone that it said would be unveiled on September 21. Well today is September 21 and LG, true to its word, has unveiled this new smartphone. This new device is the LG Class and comes with a full metallic construction that is quite different from what we have come to expect from LG.
The LG Class is a mid-range that has just been announced in Korea with no news of if or when it will be available in other markets. It comes with some premium specs which make me think that LG has an international version on the way. It will be strange for LG to just make such a good device for one market if you ask me.
The Specifications
The LG Class comes with a 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels translating to a pixel density of 293 ppi. This is a 2.5D curved glass panel which gives the phone a unique look.
The phone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space (expandable). These are some good specs for a mid-range device that am sure will lead to a very good experience.
At the back sits a 13MP camera with an 8MP one on the front.
The LG Class supports 4G LTE connectivity and has a 2,050 mAh battery which I have to say is not that impressive. This battery is also not removable and LG ensured this so as to maintain the all-metal build. I do like the all-metal build but the battery capacity is just disappointing.
Availability
As I have said above, the LG Class has been announced in Korea and is retailing for $340 (approximately Ksh 36,000). The company did not reveal if the LG Class will be available in other markets but my guess is that it may make its way to other markets with a different name.
