With Africa out of the way, Google has set its eyes on Europe as it expands the Android One program. Spain and Portugal are the first countries to get Android One as Google tries to make smartphones available to the masses.

The BQ Aquaris A4.5 is the first official Android One device in Europe. This is not a premium device but that is not a surprise since Android One devices are not meant to be premium. It comes with a 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 540×960 pixels.

Entry level specs!

The BQ Aquaris A4.5 is a 4G enabled device and has a 1GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM. It has 16GB of storage space which can be expanded further using a microSD card.

At the back sits an 8MP camera with a 5MP shooter in front. The phone will come with Android 5.1.1 out of the box with a 2,470mAh battery providing all the power.

Why Europe

It is still not clear why Google is expanding to Europe as these are more established markets. I know that there is a market for these devices but question is, is the market large enough for companies to make a profit through this? That is a question that will only be answered with time. We will keep an eye on this and keep you updated on how the device and other Android One devices are received.
