Infinix is one company that is taking the low end smartphone segment in Kenya seriously. The company has the ‘Hot’ series of devices that specifically target this particular segment. The latest addition to the family is the Infinix Hot 2 (X510) which, even though is still not available In Kenya, I managed to get my hands on it. The phone will officially be available in Kenya as from next week so I thought I could give you guys my first impressions of it.
Packaging
The packaging of the Infinix Hot 2 is pretty nice to say the least. It is simple with all the included accessories arranged nicely inside, this is one thing I have come to like with devices from Infinix. Speaking of accessories, these are what you should expect in the package.
A pair of Earphones
USB cable/charger
Warranty and safety information
The phone itself

Infinix Hot2 Specs
The Infinix Hot 2 takes over from The Infinix Hot that has been around for a while and was/still is one of the bestselling smartphones from the company. The Hot 2 has a 5 inch HD display that looks crisp and bright enough. Even with this, the first thing you notice is it is prone to fingerprints. Using the phone for a few hours left a lot of fingerprints on the display.
The volume and power buttons are on the side and the headphone jack and charging port at the top. The speaker grill is at the bottom of the phone allowing for quality audio sound. At the back of the phone is an 8MP camera with LED flash with a 2MP shooter at the front.
The overall design of the Infinix Hot is quite nice. It has a plastic back cover with curved edges that makes it comfortable to carry around.
Inside the Phone
Underneath the back cover is a dual SIM slot and a removable 2,200 mAh battery. There is also a microSD card slot for those who need extra storage space. Still on storage, the Infinix Hot 2 has a 16GB capacity.
Powering this phone is a Quad Core processor combined with 1GB of RAM. Performance has been quite good for the short time I have had with this smartphone.
The Infinix Hot 2 comes with Android 5.1 lollipop out of the box and since it is an Android One device, it will be among the first devices to get Android updates when they are available.
Early Verdict
Overall, the Infinix Hot 2 is a nice device for it price. It has a decent build quality and some good specs. Its performance has not disappointed me so far and the only issue I have with this phone is the amount of fingerprints it collects on both the front and back panels. After a few minutes of using it, you will notice your fingerprint marks especially on the back cover. Of course these can be wiped out but I thought I should just mention that.
I will have a full review of this phone in the next few days and its price and availability in Kenya. In the meantime, you can go and read the review of the Infinix Zero 2 that I did a few weeks ago.
