Apple watch was officially unveiled sometime back joining a bunch of smartwatches from other manufacturers that were already on the market. Most people considered the Apple watch just a hyped product and did not expect it to be successful.
As Apple was reporting its fiscal third quarter results, the company reported that Apple watch was doing better than expected. The company did not reveal how many units have been sold but given this is the first time Apple watch has been in the company’s fiscal report, the positive results show potential it has.

After the earnings announcement, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook said that Apple watch sales had exceeded his expectations ever since they went on sale sometime in April. In a statement, Tim Cook said, “Sales of the Watch did exceed my expectations, despite supply trailing demand at the end of the quarter…beyond the very good news on sales, we’re more excited on how the product is positioned for the long term, because we’re starting a new category.”
The Apple Watch was Tim Cook’s major product launch ever since he took over as the CEO. With no real sales figures, we can’t say if this was a success for him or not and we sure can’t take his word for it. We will have to wait a few more months to be able to tell if the Apple watch has been successful or not.
