If you have used Windows on PC/tablet, you may have come across Xbox music at some point. Microsoft has been using Xbox music as its primary platform for playing music and videos. As we have been expecting from some time now, the company is changing this name from Xbox music to Groove. Microsoft has been planning to change the name as it gets ready to roll out Windows 10 later this month.
According to Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore “Lots of people were saying ‘I don’t have an Xbox, why would I use Xbox Music?’” changing the name from Xbox music has been a long journey and the company had quite a number of names to pick before settling on Groove.
Picking Groove for Microsoft is all about giving people the best feeling. The company said, “Groove describes what people feel and do with music.” This name does not tie the company down as it can spin it off in future if it is not that successful.
You will not be able to see Groove just yet as it is meant for Windows 10 and will be included in the next Windows 10 build that will be distributed to testers this week.
