Smartphones have been around for years meaning that users have the option of choosing what suits them. With the many options available on the market, the type of smartphone you choose can communicate to the world what you are all about. People choose Smartphones, whether consciously or unconsciously, based on their lifestyles.
In this article, I will talk about what your Smartphone’s screen size and operating system says about you.
Screen Size
When Smartphones first came out, they had very small screens but this has all changed. The screen size you end up choosing says a lot about you and your lifestyle.
4 inch Screen or Smaller
If your smartphone has a 4inch screen size or smaller, then you probably are not as active user. People who use such phone use them mostly to make phone calls, send texts or do the basic things phone do. Most of these people either have other Smartphones that they use most of the time or are just not that big into technology. In most situations, you will find people using these phones for business only. These are not the people you will find checking their Smartphones every few seconds unless it rings or an SMS is delivered.
A smartphone is this size range says you are not that tech savvy, not an early adopter and do not care so much about new technological developments.
Between 4 and 4.5 inches
Smartphones with screen sizes in this range are the most popular. They are mostly preferred by first time smartphone buyers and the young buyers. Most people with such Smartphones use them for phone calls, text messages and social media. People who use these Smartphones do not care so much about new technological developments but they are aware of these developments.
Having a smartphone with a screen size between 4 and 4.5 inches says you know a lot about what happens around you but you do not care so much about that if your messaging apps are not work
4.5 to 5 inches
Smartphones in this category are for the urban users and those in the know. These people are much into social media and are those you will find updating their Facebook, Twitter or Instagram profiles 5 times or more in a day. Most people who buy these Smartphones tend to be easy going in real life but very active online.
Between 5 and 5.7 inches
People who buy these smartphones tend to be very active on social media and are those you will always find staring on their phones all the time. These people will always attend the trendiest events in town and you will always find them in the latest clothes in the coolest joints. Such people are never afraid to show off and like the finer things in life.
Above 5.7 inches
These Smartphones are pretty much used by business men/women or those people who are always on the go. When you have such a smartphone, people will always think you are a manager in some company or a very successful business man or just a show off.
Operating system
Apart from the screen size, the operating system also says something about you.
iOS
iOS is for those who like the finer things in life. These are the people who will easily get that new Porsche even if it means getting a loan for it. Such people will eat in the finest establishments and. will never like to admit it but they like to show off.
Android
People who use Android are the free spirits. Having an Android device shows you are more of a laid back individual who will easily be swayed by other people’s opinions and their actions. You are also likely to take risks.
Windows Phone
Having Windows phone shows that you like order in your life. You like getting things done and are less likely to do what you are not supposed to. Such people tend to be more productive in the office and personal lives.
BlackBerry OS
BlackBerry is for people who do a lot on their phones, be it sending messages, making phones calls among others. Most people who use BlackBerry do not adopt new technology as fast as others and they tend to hold on to things a lot. Such people like convenience in their lives.

I am more indented to disagree with the Android users observation, I think Android users are the people with varying tastes and personalities and thus we want an os that can adopt to us rather than we adopting to it.
That is true mostly for techies. For the normal individuals, they mostly go with the flow
Agreed, Android users have varied tastes and personalities
I am #team Android and I kind of agree, iPhone users are snobs
ave been using an iPhone for as long as I cn remember n am nt one. I agree that some iPhoners have certain annoying traits but no all.
True, most but not all.
Is Iphoners even a word?
Yes it is..google it if you don’t believe me
iPhones are not well represented in this article
Actually they are, we have covered all platforms fairly
Kalu we know you, Apple is not your favorite brand. About screen sizes, you are on point
Hahaha am not a hater. This was just my opinion. And keep in mind that I have owned an iOS, Android and Windows Phone device.
Haha OK. But in my opinion, Apple is just overated
True, even though they make good products.
Ati blackberry? kwani we ni cave man
Yes BB is still around even though not many people use it
Android is the best, easy to use for me. As for size, it shouldn’t be too big or too small so 5 inches is enough. And yes I do update my social media more than enough times a day…deal with that
Hahaha
I believe that everything you have in life can be used to describe you (even your smartphone). Great angle you used for your arguments though.
That’s true. Thanks for reading.
Interesting enough, you did not talk about price. Those who buy expensive smartphones tend to be very pooor and are just looking for ways to show off IMO
Thanks for reading, that’s a whole different article by itself.
Great analysis, my phone screams who I am
Yes it does. I guess its the one on your avatar.
Interesting read
Thanks for reading
I prefer having a big screen all the way. And am team android.
me too
That says alot about you. Thanks for reading.
Am always traveling and i prefer a smartphone with a big screen as am not a fan of tablets and laptops are too bulky
Yes, Phablets can come in handy in such situations
I also think that what is in the phone ie apps and all that can say alot about a person. I judge people from what I see on their phones not the phone itself.
That’s interesting. Never thought of it.
I think we live in a generations where we allow the things we have define us instead of who we are. This is wrong for me.
Great. But then again, that is the very essence of a smartphone, to bring out who you are.
That’s true. Thanks for reading though.
Haha. Opinions are allowed here too.
In your next post you should mention something about gamers. They like smartphones with big screens depending on the games they play.
I will try to do a follow up on this and definitely include that. Thanks for reading.
My smartphone does not necessarily define me as a person but it says a lot about what I do.
That’s very true even for me.
Great article but I wanted to correct you on the OS. I think its all about your preferences and cannot say who you are.
That makes sense, we choose OS based on our preferences.
Is there a smartphone with a 4 inch screen in Kenya. I thought hizo tuliwacha Kitambo?
Haha, There are still some around.
For me the smartphone brand defines you more.
That makes sense. But a brand is just a name if you consider it.
I think most people want to express themselves with their phones but finances tie them down
That’s true, money is definetly a factor here.
My smartphone my choice. i don’t think it says who I am, it just shows who i am
Good point.
Great article men, proud of how far you’ve come
Thanks, are you back in Kenya. I need to talk to you about some business.
I’ll be back next week. We can talk then. I will email you when I land.
That is what manufacturers want to lie to us so that we can keep buying more smartphones
conspiracy theories are welcomed.
As long as I can work on the go, then I will buy that smartphone.
I guess you are in the phablet category
Nunua tu simu yoyote. As long as it has all the features you want, no need for all this hullabaloo.
Haha, that is also something to consider.
My smartphone says am focused and have attention to detail #team iphone
yes it does
Interesting, never looked at it that way.
Now you are informed. Thanks for reading
You are on point. your smartphone needs to define you.
True. Thanks for reading
What if I have a kabambe? what does it say about me.
Haha, it says you like the simplest things
my smartphone (iphone) says am rich but in reality am not, what say you?
aaahh, it says you like the finer things in life
For me, all i need is a smartphone that can handle heavy graphics
Then you should be prepared to spend more.
I
had a blackberry once… did I do a lot on it? Of course not
haha.
. actually possibly agree
The
blackberry is the most common company phone, that is why busy people have them
Glad
to have a Windows phone, better than those three.
true
I’m
an iPhone user yet have the characteristics of an Android user
haha, maybe you should switch to android
I’m
an android user and don’t drink so what do you make of that?
What
about people who neither own nor use a mobile phone ???
Those have their own special category
Windows
8 phone users are smarter!
Haha
I have used WP before and I tend to agree
I
have one of each. What now?
You are probably a curious person
I
truly believe mobile phones do give some insight into their owner, I dread to
think what my 10 year old Nokia says about me.
That
says you do not change things if they are not broken
So
if i get a blackberry will I get busy all of a sudden?
Not necessarily
But most people do get BlackBerry smartphone for that reason.
yes
It does
well
that’s an interesting look at things
Lol
that is also a way to go about it
True
thanks for reading though
They probably like the simple things as long as they get things done
My
wife has siemens what does that say about her?
I
have a work Blackberry and a personal use Android phone, can’t say I disagree
with the article
So
I have owned all three throughout my life…
it’s
pretty spot on for me as a Blackberry user!
