You probably know (or don’t) that those who have existing Windows 7 and Windows 8 licenses will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free during the first year of Windows 10 launch. This leaves behind those with no licenses, what will happen to them? For a long time now, Microsoft had remained quiet about this but finally the company has revealed the prices before Windows 10 is unveiled.

The company revealed this information to Neowin. For the prices, Microsoft said that Windows 10 Home Edition will cost $119 (approximately Ksh 11,500 before taxes) while Windows 10 Pro will cost you $199 (approximately Ksh 19,000 before taxes). Those who want to switch from Home to Pro, you will have to pay up $99 (Kshs 9,500) for that.

The statement from Microsoft to Neowin reads in part, “The easiest way to get Windows 10 is to upgrade for free. You may also purchase a copy of Windows 10 if you decide not to upgrade, or if you need to purchase a copy for other reasons like installing on a PC you built yourself. The suggested retail prices for Windows 10 in the U.S. are the same as Windows 8.1.”

I will keep you informed on any price updates and changes if and when they happen.
