Asus’ first smartwatch, the ZenWatch, was a success and the company is working on its successor as competition in the smartwatch market gets serious. We have been hearing about the ZenWatch 2 for a while and the last we heard about it was last month when news was that the company was gearing up to unveil it early next year at mobile world congress. This seems not to be true as the company plans to have the ZenWatch 2 out by the end of this year.
Jerry Shen who is Asus’ CEO has been quoted saying that the ZenWatch 2 will make its retail debut in the third quarter of this year. Asus is looking at the Computex event in Taipei to launch the ZenWatch 2.
Computex is a computer trade show and one of the most popular ones for that matter. The event this year will start on June 2nd and that is when we should expect to see the ZenWatch 2.Not much has been revealed about the ZenWatch 2 but we should expect to know more as the days go by.
One thing that we know is that the ZenWatch 2 will be powered by Android Wear. The smartwatch will have a battery that can last for four straight days which is quite impressive considering most Smartwatches currently on the market cannot match that. The ZenWatch 2 will be available in two variants, one for men and the other one for women.
